Trek Day 5

After a perfect star-filled clear Wyoming night, we plan to be back at the Alkire building at 4 pm today. Please pick up your youth then.

Trek Day 4

Shortly after yesterday’s update, our rain dodging luck ran out. We experienced a Wyoming summer downpour from the safety of our tents. The youth kept up their spirits to kick off this morning for the longest trekking day of the week over Rocky Ridge into Rock Creek Hollow. Along the way, we again caught a downpour and forged a muddy bog. This evening has been filled with more line dancing and a music-filled Stake Presidency devotional. We will close out the evening with a ward-level testimony meeting.

Trek Day 3

We enjoyed 6th Crossing today. During the route, the young men were called away in conscription to the Mormon Battalion and the women pulled their carts up the biggest hill of the day on their own. We crossed the Sweetwater River before wrapping up the handcart portion of the day and heading to our new campground at the base of Rocky Ridge. The weather is beautiful and we are managing to dodge most of the rain in the area.

Trek Day 2

The youth quietly enjoyed the spirit walking quietly through Martin’s Cove and ended the day with a rousing square dance.

Trek Day 1

After an early morning, the youth enjoyed Independence Rock and the Martin’s Cove Visitor Center. This evening was filled with music and inspiring messages, despite the strong winds.
